Hi Everybody

*Hi Candice*

I know I had an excellent time in Boston at the 40th biennial National Convention along with others from Section 50. Below are a few highlights of the legislation that passed/adopted and the newly elected National Board of Directors:

* National Service Week for 2009-2010, "Blue and Gold Go Green: Environmentalism." The specific project theme for 2009 "Service to the Earth" and that 2010 be "Get the Green Out: Making Communities Greener."
* 2010 to 2012 both Boy and Girl Scouts will be celebrating 100th anniversaries and APO chapters are encouraged to participate with local Girl/Boy Scout Councils in their respective celebrations
* The amount of the annual insurance fee shall be set each year by the National Board of Directors on or before August 1st and shall not exceed $7.
* The financial records of each Chapter shall be reviewed annually by an official approved by the institution in which the Chapter is located, and the reviewer shall be independent of the Chapter's financial accounts and records. A confirmation of the review will be sent to the National Office upon request by the National Executive Director. Note: The technical term "audit" was replaced with review to clear up confusion that chapters had with regards to hiring a CPA, etc.
* An optional Big Brother Revelation ceremony was created and now is available for chapters to use separate and apart from the Pledge ritual
* A Local Alumni Association Distinguished Service Key will be created by the National Office and criteria for whom shall receive the award was approved.
* Nationals 2010 will be held in Atlanta, GA

Program Directors: Adam Bolain, John Ottenad, Carla Moran, Ed Ritcher, Keith Roots and Jeff Cantor
Region VI Director: Rob Coop

Chapters often have outstanding, experienced student leaders in their elected leadership positions. Chapters also often have amazing, productive semesters due in large part to the leadership of these students. But what happens next semester when new officers are elected?

This IMPACT Live Session will focus on three areas: why it is important for chapters to develop and carry out a formal officer transition program, the components that are necessary for an effective program, and the role that advisors and staff can play in this program.
